You know we love you Jase, or some of us even fear you. I wonder which is better, let us know. Anyway, Taye Diggs does rock and he is best in The Way of the Gun and if anyone says that the mvoie about someone getting their groove on or something is where he rocked, stop smoking craCK. iT IS BAD FOR YOU.

also, if you look at the "projects" section it says that she played "cyberpunk" in ghostwriter, she also appeared on Chicago Hope and Promised Land (TV guest appearances)

I agree, and hope that her new movies are a huge success. I really liked Down to You and the Sixties, but 10 Things set her off. I'm still waiting for a smash like that. I think 10 Things is sort of timeless. At least it would seem that way with everyone wanting to be a minority now days. If Travis didn't use the computer all of the time, I'd be able to post at night, but it is his computer. Anyway, I'm still all about the board, so don't worry. I'm here as I can be. Much love to all.

After looking at the posts on that page, does anyone else wonder how she can be in two places at once? I would think that attending an Ivy League school would be enough for most of us, not to mention all those film aspirations. I mean many other actors take time off for school, so I was wondering why she wouldn't.

There's a picture of Julia shoveling while working with Habitat for Humanity in the newest Teen People (Dec 00/Jan 01)pg. 122

After wrapping Save the Last Dance in Chicago last March, Julia Stiles needed to get away. She had some time off between films and didn't want to spend them lying on a beach ("I have that type A personality where I always have to do something," says Julia). In the end the 19-year old actress satisfied both her travel bug and her desire to do volunteer work: She signed up with Habitat for Humanity International, an organization that builds homes for the needy. During her two-week stint constructing a house for a family in Costa Rica, Julia spent daily eight-hour shifts digging trenches, mixing concrete, making a roof- and brushing up on her Spanish. "The construction workers didn't speak English, and the other volunteers didn't speak Spanish, so I had to translate for everybody," says Julia. "When I got there, I spoke just enough Spanish [to get by], but I was really good when I left." In her off-hours, Julia got to explore a volcano and a rain forest while bonding with other volunteers (she's kept in touch with some of them). But for all her cool experiences, the greatest thing about the endeavor was what she learned. "We always expect that a house is just given to us, that we'll have a place to live. We built a house for a family of four that's the size of an apartment in New York City, and they were still appreciative." says Julia, who returned to Habitat last July after she filmed The Business of Strangers. As for her next vacation, she doesn't have to worry about finding a place to go. Says Julia: "[Habitat] said I could come back and stay with the family anytime."
TAKE ACTION: Volunteer for Habitat's Collegiate Challenge, a weeklong service program for students age 16 and older who want to spend their school breaks building homes in the U.S. "It's rewarding because you see the work you're accomplishing rather than sending away money- and you have fun too," says Julia. Information on Collegiate Challenge and other Habitat programs is available at habitat.org.

So she's got time for movies, plays, an ivy league school, AND Habitat for humanity? Wow! How many hours are there in the day? The week?

hey. (i'm new just in case you don't recognize the name). julia was in the october issue of InStyle magazine. the bad thing is that i don't think it is on the shelves anymore and i don't have a scanner. sorry! there is a star tribute to giorgio armani and they are all wearing his clothes. all of the pictures are in black & white and the one of julia is really great. i have been searching the internet for this pic and have not been able to find it, so maybe you guys can do a little search of your own! and if this picture is already on this site, than i feel really silly. hee :-). but i don't think it is...

As I recall, Julia took one year off between High School and college to do a few movies and "take a break". All the movies that are yet to be released were finished with production before the summer was over. After Save the Last Dance she returned to New York. Now, I cannot remember when she did Habitat for Humanity...it was either between movies or after she filmed STLD and before she went to school. Now that she is in school, I am fairly sure her focus is on school.....but there is always time for some other projects, right?

Welcome to the board Tara, hope to see some more posts out of you. As for those pics, I cannot remember whether or not we have those specific pictures in our rather extensive collection...if not, I would love to see them. Maybe JSR or Ez can give us a shout out on this issue. (no pun intended). Read you later!

I saw the picture of Julia shoveling while working with Habitat for Humanity in the Teen People (Dec00/Jan 01) on page 122. caption: Julia the Home Maker Then there is the article our cruisin' JSR transcribed for us. (Thanks again)

Why is it girls are so cute when there being domestic???

In the December issue of 'Premiere' magazine, page 6, there is a 2" x 3" picture of Miss Stiles in a red dress. the note says "Julia Stiles finds her way to Toronto via State and Main." The ensuing article about the Toronto Film Festival makes no mention of her or the movie she is in.

The picture is from the Toronto film festival and is basically the average of pictures 001 & 007 from the State and Main Toronto film festival on the main page. Just the background is a little different.

I had a Stiles question, and thought this forumn would b the best, I made it a "Julia Weekend" and watched both "10 things" and "Down to You". I noticed a difference in Julia's character. As the High School Stratford in "10 things" she hates smoking, yet as a collage beauty in "Down to You" she is shown doing it and even calls it an outlet. Is the real Julia a non-smoker or does she light up? Interesting just because of the movie cmparison. Hopefully someone can figure this out!

Ok, I think there's already a topic on this, but I'll let a more authoritative admin move your post. So, until that time, I'll be able to answer it. I guess to an extent, this constitues as new, but not really.

I actually discussed this issue with Julia, as on one of the occasions that she did visit the site, she read the personal encounters where someone talked about her smoking a cigarette. She said it was unlikely, but possible. That although she rarely smokes cigarettes, she has on occasion.

She is by no means a chain-smoker or anything like that.

we have talked about this before in another forum being the lackies we are we talk about every little detaila nd notice every little thing, like you! Anyway, we deduced, how I don't remember, that she used to smoke but no longer does. It really wasn't important to us, it wasn't like "oh she smokes? I am getting the hell outta here." but I have to admit there were people dissapointed by it. I too have had my bout with cancer sticks, I did it like everyone else to be cool and I simply stopped when I realized that they taste bad and my breathe stank. Anyway, I hope we answered your question and I am kinda with Julia on this one. I actually have a smoke or two during exmas when i am stressed. Don't know why but it helps me relax.

Smoking sucks!!!!! Anywho, here's a little something Bob read somewhere. He read that the stars of the Jossie and The Pussycats movie are.........Rachael Leigh Cook.........
Rosario Dawson...............and.............
Tara Reid.........no mention of Julia. Don't know if this info has popped up anywhere else on the board, but here it is again if it has. Sucks almost as much as smoking!!

Sorry, quick point.

A cigarette has the pain killing effect of 1/4 of a regular asprin. The inhaled drug effect is quick though. You can stop pain even better by hyperventilating.

If you check at the below link, you'll see no Julia, but a lot of other names. Thus endeth that. http://www.upcomingmovies.com/josieandthepussycats.html

I am concerned about the people who smoke. I USED to, but it is just not me and my mom caught me!(hehehe!) But I think it is their decision. It is severely addictive, and it will be hard just to go cold turkey. I hate smoking and the effects and the hypocritical society that goes with it. They advertise these "non-smoking ads" "Tobacco is not cool when you are a teen"

Bunch of bull shit! Tobacco can affect whether you are a teen or not.

So did our sweet mag hag find this yet? Vanity Fair NOVEMBER 2000 MUSIC issue on page 47, there is a full page picture of the one and only with a red barret and a red Donna Karan dress carrying a basket of assorted vegetables. I was flipping through mags to kill time for something. Now that I'm laid off, I have time, but no money to buy stuff, and no easy access to a scanner. But I am enjoying my paid vacation.

i couldn't find julia in vanity fair either, but i did find a picture of her in the table of contents in the newest Premiere magazine with Angelina Jolie on the cover. There's a lot of candids from the Toronto film festival in the table of contents, and there's one great little picture of julia in a red dress. also, i got the Alloy catalog today and there's a page dedicated to Save the Last Dance. There's 4 pics from the movie of her and Sean Patrick Thomas in various dancing scenes.
"Cool and Cooler: Who can forget Julia's moves on top of that table in "10 Things I Hate About You"? That hit film brought her MTV's Movie Award for Breakthrough Female Performance.... and a slew of unofficial fan sites on the web devoted just to her. In "Save the Last Dance", she plays Sara, a white girl from the suburbs who transfers into a black inner-city high school in Chicago. She's a dancer, but she doesn't know anything about hip-hop... until she meets the school's hottest guy, played by Sean Patrick Thomas. "She's a little insecure when she first starts at her new school," Julia says, "not because she's the only white person there, but because culturally she's from the suburbs and these kids are so much cooler than she is. She's very strong-willed, though, and when she gets involved in this club culture with people from her school, her whole life changes."
Dancing the Night Away: To soak up soe real hip-hop flavor, Sean, Julia and award winning choreographer Fatima hit Chicago's clubs and checked out the scene. "Every night we'd go out," Sean says. "We hung out there till late at night, and early the next morning we'd be back dancing in the film studio again." Julia says: "One of the reasons that I really really wanted to do this movie was because I love to dance, and there's a lot of different kinds in this film. Hip-hop is very sexual-you move your hips a lot- and the transition that Sara goes through to learn how to be a little bit sexual is," Julia laughs, "uh, really interesting to me."
Love and Romance: But "Save the Last Dance" isn't all that fun and excitement- though there's plenty of that, Julia says. "It has a lot of drama in it, and it deals with social issues that are more serious than teen movies usually deal with."

Sorry all, my error. *smacks self upside head with the whooping stick and gives Tara & JSR each a coupon for a free pedicure* I think I got the Teen People issue date stuck in my head.
the correct location is:
Vanity Fair NOVEMBER 2000 MUSIC issue on page 47. The page, like most, is not labled with its number. There is a full page picture of the Julia with a red barret and a red Donna Karan dress carrying a basket of assorted vegetables. *yum, she's making me a salad!*

In Style DECEMBER 2000 issue on page 128. There is a full height picture of Julia in a dress with an interesting pattern to it. And speaking of interesting patterns; she is wearing the same necklace here as in several other recent photos, like Toronto for example.
