Actually it was a movie originally released in 1998, I'm not sure how old Julia was when she made it but I picked up the DVD for rental today (still haven't gotten a chance to watch it) and she looks younger than she did in "The Devil's Own"....it had a hard time finding a theatrical distributor and then the VHS was terribly difficult to come across (I think we actually have one copy for sale in the Auction Room right now) and I cannot tell you how surprised I was to find it in my video stores DVD collection. Actually Barry Wicked is the movie Jase and I have been drooling over for release. I have known about it in excess of 2 years now. It was only seen at Sundance in '98 and never made the big screen. I'm not gonna ask how or why it was released so long after its creation and previous showing but all I can say is.. IP: Logged |

Smoking is actually the first question in this thread, but that is a year old now. It may be covered better in the interview, but the first answer was "As for the "official" answer of whether or not she does smoke....well...there is none. When I've tried to discuss this with her, she's been really ambiguous about it. What she's said is in reference to the personal encounter (Extra's sections), where the person stated that Julia was smoking because she had a bad day. She responded that it was highly unlikely but possible, implying that she has previously. My follow up asking if she did smoke was answered by her telling me very rarely and generally for social purposes. That's about as definitive as it gets, but definately still ambiguous." IP: Logged |

Thanks for responding to my question. I wouldn't be suprized if she did(does) smoke because about everyone i know in the entertainment business does and especially all of the actresses. I also hope that she doesn't feel any presure to smoke to become one of the 5'9 108lbs actresses because one of the best things that i admire in her is that she is not waif-like thin. sorry that might be confusing i didn't really know how to put it. until next time Liza ------------------ IP: Logged |

Well, once again we get into the specifics of smoking which has been asked numerous times....According to my interview, Jase's, numerous meetings, and lots of personal accounts from friends at Columbia, she does NOT smoke regularly. However, as she admitted to me and according to some of my friends who've partied with her at some of the local bars she does smoke socially occasionally. This is not too uncommon even for non-smokers, so the unoffficial word is that she's not an addicted smoker, but does have one socially now and then. Vega, I checked out your site, have no fear, and in fact I liked it. For the past several weeks, Jason and I have been discussing how to re-structure the web site more efficiently. In a few weeks, maybe more, maybe less, we'll be posting applications for numerous positions on our home page. Julia-Stiles.com will soon become a much larger and better site. We have the money and resources to do it, it's just a matter of how. And that's what we're figuring out: how. We're not convinced we have the best way to re-structure the site yet, because, frankly, it's insanely complicated. Hope you'll do it with a dynamic programming language. So it'll be easier to update it. What is complicated? Where you got money to make a new website? Do you know if she planned to make it an OFFICIAL website? I hope you'll let us know what you want to do. I am working as web programmer. Well, by restructuring the site, I don't necessarily mean re-designing it. I think we've got a very effective design right now, I just need to find a way to get more out of it. By re-structuring it, I'm thinking more along the lines of the staff. To all the board admins, don't worry, I'm not kicking you out or anything, but our hierarchy with me as the updater, Jase as our head admin, and then the other admins no longer makes any sense. Yes, the board is a huge part of the site, but it's not the only part. I'm going to try to find updaters for each section and make this more like a newspaper. We'd have an updated for the extras section, and an updated for the main page, one for articles, one for exclusives, etc. Therefore, no one person has to assume an overbearing amount of work, and the site become fairly decentralized (which I actually want). It sounds complicated, but hopefully when it's implemented, it won't be. When we figure out exactly how to re-structure, we'll alert you guys both here and on the main-page for applications for volunteers. Currently, no positions would be paying. As for the issue of money, we're being privately funded. Will this become an official site anytime soon? Possible, but wouldn't yield great results I would think. I have a better idea, why not start a campaign in Austrailia for your versions of "Cosmopolitan" "Teen People" and so on do interviews with Julia? I would have thought a lot of the magazines that have interviewed Julia would be available all around, but that's what I get for assuming. i am actually also kind of confused by this question. i thought that she was but if you read the "In Style" article when she is talking about college she says "i have sort of become an involuntairy vegitartion becasue the meat in the school dining hall is gross". i don't know if that implied that she wasn't a vegan before or not.
